Yamada Anderson wins 49kg Class at 2018 Idaho State Championships

Posted by Michael Conroy on Oct 28 2018 at 05:00PM PDT

Meridian ID  Returning to the State Championship platform after a 2 year hiatus Courtney Yamada-Anderson made the return worthwhile with both a State Championship and new state records.

In the Snatch Courtney opened with a 51kg success and followed up with second and third attempt successes of 53kg and 55kg. The 55kg effort equalled her competition best.  After a successful fist attempt in the Clean & Jerk of 70kg Courtney moved to to 73 where her lift was turned down 2 to 1. Not being detered she called for 75kg on her third attempt and was rewarded with a successful lift. The 75kg lift also equalled her previous competition best but this was the first time she had been able to put the 55kg snatch with the 75kg Clean & Jerk and established a new PR and State Record Total of 130kg.

The 2018 Idaho State Championships where the first 2 platform event and it was a rousing success. The Idaho LWC Leadership of President Ben Bristow, VP, Dan Fischer and Sec. Alison Ruoff are to be commended for overseeing the best weightlifting competition ever held in our LWC history. The number of participants and quality of the performances was a great way to end 2018 and make 2019 a season to look forward to.
